He hasn't been around long so he can appear that he is not part of the big political machine. And because of that he is an unknown.Brent and Aprilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00904282683583434316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5939543443166847471.post-88037731577829510922008-08-07T08:28:00.000-07:002008-08-07T08:28:00.000-07:00David,I agree with you, but in this post I wanted ...David,

I agree with you, but in this post I wanted to point out some of Obama's most serious flaws:

1) His stark ambition which is very much on par with Hillary's. If you read the article in the link there are two events that are most disturbing to me:
a) To win the state senate seat, Obama challenged the petitions of his challengers and in doing so was able to remove all his challengers and ran unopposed.
b) In preparation for his US Senate run he re-alligned (gerrymandered) his district to get a constituency that included many of his rich and powerful supporters as well as the African Ameican base.

2) His ambition leads to an even more serious flaw. He was always running for another election about every three years for different positions. He never really stuck around doing one thing for any length of time. As a result, his accomplishments are not deep.

As a result of 2) many people including me have no idea what kind of president he will actually become.tempe turleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00906350838729139212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5939543443166847471.post-56936438370059259832008-08-06T21:28:00.000-07:002008-08-06T21:28:00.000-07:00You are so star struck that it is disturbing. Whe...You are so star struck that it is disturbing. When you are star struck, even the negatives sound like positives.

-DavidAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5939543443166847471.post-71909137982170014602008-08-06T18:19:00.000-07:002008-08-06T18:19:00.000-07:00Hi Scott. You wrote:"The reality is that Obama is...Hi Scott. You wrote:

"The reality is that Obama is such a completely new phenomenon, he defies comparisons. For me that's what makes him exciting, his possibility and potential. For others, its what makes him a risk."

"However, I really believe his politics are incredibly modern and relevant. I still want to write about why the Democratic policies are more relevant in the 21st century age than the Republican party's. This is especially true with Obama at its head. That post is still to come."

A good, quick summary. I think that Obama represents something new - an alternative to the Bush - McCain Cold War - like mentality that has caused so much pain.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
